Abstract Construction on swelling soil is a major challenge to geotechnical engineers all around the world. This type of has quite complex behavior as they undergo category problematic soils. The seasonal variations in climate cause and shrinkage, affecting soil’s water retention. prediction future change will worsen this problem, increasing importance matter. attention been directed experimental modeling field investigations. In previous references, problem was targeted by adding additives which are relatively expensive non-environment friendly. study, waste recycled materials used lab enhance undesirable expansive characteristics keep environment clean sustainable reduce pollution. selected not only for its availability cheapness but also damage due disposal waste. Therefore, aim study observe soils when mixing with various percentages sodium chloride (NaCl) lime sludge (LS). work determine properties were 1%, 2%, 3% NaCl weight 3%, 6%, 9%, 10%, 12%, 15%, 20% LS weight. tests held laboratory liquid limit (LL), plastic (PL), free swell (FS), plasticity index (PI), pressure, infiltration test, physical models. results show that percentage LS, significant improvement obvious Added that, decrease PI clearly observed reflects pressure soil.
